Paranormal activity in Victoria Canada has also been recorded at many locations such as the Princess Mary, Four Mile House and Camille's Restaurant
Many restaurants in Victoria are located in heritage buildings that are rich in history. Several theaters have been painstakingly restored to their original grandeur. Beautiful parkland can be found in the heart of the city. All of these places have stories to tell.
The Princess Mary, once a passenger ship and now a restaurant, is the scene of paranormal activity. A decommissioned oil tanker was bought as an add-on to the restaurant. The wheelhouse of the oil tanker was the scene of the former captain’s wife suicide. Now her ghost can be seen wandering the halls along with strange unexplainable noises. Unexplainable phenomena are witnessed in the kitchen. Dirty dishes are all of a sudden washed and stacked. The oven door flies open for no apparent reason and utensils go missing and then end up on the other side of the room.
The Four Mile House was built in the 1850s as a stagecoach rest stop. The owner, Elizabeth Kalbert, was known as an herbalist and worked with the native people as a healer. Today, it’s an antique store and café. There have been sightings of a man in a 1940s style suit. Sounds of someone stirring a coffee cup can be heard in the morning hours, before the shop is opened. Indian spirits are sometimes seen and the presence of Elizabeth can be felt. The apparition of a stable hand, Jake, who was murdered there, has been seen throughout the building. In addition, the ghost of one of the former owners, Margaret Gouge, can be seen dressed in a long gown and staring out into the garden.
Camille's Restaurant located at Bastion Square was once the Victoria Law Chambers. There is an unexplained smell of cigars and perfume.
The McPherson Playhouse was first opened in 1914 and was fully restored in 1965. Patrons and staff have seen the ghost of the “grey lady” float in the balcony area and in front of the projector windows. Footsteps have been heard when the building is empty. Chandeliers have been seen swinging for no apparent reason. Outside the theatre, on a street corner, people have seen the apparition of a man precisely at 9:00am in the month of October. The man is believed to be of French origin and was shot and dumped at the corner as a result of being involved in a gambling game.
Beacon Hill Park was established in 1882 and it covers approximately 200 acres near the city core. It got its name from beacon poles built on the hill to help ships navigate into the Inner Harbour. In the past, several people had seen the apparition of a woman near a bush. She had her mouth open looking like she is trying to scream and her arms were outstretched. Not too long after this sighting, a woman was murdered in the park and her body was found at the same bush. The picture of the victim closely resembled the ghost of the screaming woman.
